1. I wish I wanted fake nails. I love how a woman moves her hands when she has long nails. My own nails aren't exactly non-existent... I mean I have enough to pick corn from between any of my teeth, should the need arise (oops, did I say that in public?) But I hate having my own nails filed paper-thin and I just lack the ability to keep appointments at regularly scheduled intervals for upkeep. Oh, and did I mention... I'm "frugal". 2. I wish I wanted ripped Abs. I really wish I wanted these... it seems most people do want them, but I'd be happy with just a flat tummy, which I hope to achieve by Christmas. (My previous goal was June 1st, but I'm uncertain how that didn't occur, and that's all I have to say about that!) 3. I wish I wanted matching shoes and belts and purses. Yeah, I just don't care enough. I wish I did. I'm sure it would be cute to be all coordinated. Right now, I just like to make my 24 y.o. daughter crazy by telling her that I'm wearing tan socks with my brown shirt, blue jeans and black shoes, belt and purse. I change purses when I HATE my old purse, or it is eaten by a domestic animal. It's been awhile since that's happened... my last incident involved a mini-lop bunny. I'm sticking to the old adage, "Black goes with EVERYTHING! And that includes brown!" 4. I wish I wanted good wine. I am the wine connoisseur's joke. My favorite wine would be.... Manishevitz Blackberry Wine. I buy it by the gallon, since I am frugal and it lasts a long time that way. No, I'm not Jewish. 5. I wish I wanted to remove the stickers on the outside of my windows. We bought a new house in 2004. The stickers are still on the tops of the windows. I can't reach them, and I really wish I wanted to take the time to get those things off, but if you see something long enough it becomes invisible - so while you all can see those stupid things I can't see them anymore. It's like that shrivelled up apple on the bottom shelf of the fridge. 6. I wish I wanted to read the Classics. Every so often I think it would be nice to... and then I pick up something by Janet Evanovich instead. Maybe if they were funnier?? 7. I wish I wanted to wax my car... I think I'll just pay to get it detailed... but that frugal side keeps reminding me how I used to wax my own car. SHUT UP, WILL YOU?!?! Zheesh! 8. I wish I wanted a back porch instead of a patio... seems everyone else thinks that I need a porch or a deck... I want a patio, dammit! 9. I wish I wanted to work out. 10. I wish I didn't want to do so many things - play piano, train my dog, write a book, finish my basement, plant a cottage garden, build a garden shed, go to Ireland, get a horse (no - that's insane!), read great books, work out (ha ha), make quilts for everybody, too much for one lifetime. 11. I wish I didn't want a cute hairstyle. I'd like to be happy with just plain old straight hair and maybe bangs - but I get so bored with that... it's a pain - since I'm not good at that whole, "appointments scheduled at regular intervals" thing. 12. I wish I didn't want to be in business for myself. Sometimes I'd like to be online only to play around, chat, blog, research... instead of checking orders, shipping stuff, emailing customers. But it will never go away - it's in my blood. It'd be better if I had access to a high speed connection, but those are the shits & grins of living in the country. 13. I wish I didn't want my age (whatever it is) to be the "new 30". I shall not age gracefully... I will be that crazy old lady who does weird things. Yeah, I'll bake cookies too... but I'll also be trying new things until the day I die... RAGE, Rage against the dying of the light. Live it until it isn't anymore! This is my first Thursday Thirteen. I had to do this, because 13 is my lucky number! |

That's a great first Thursday Thirteen! Esp 4 and 5!
Happy Thursday, my list is up too!
Hilarious! This is a great list. I can relate to so many of them. You did a great job with this one. I'm going to link it over at my house.
This Eclectic Life
I love this way of doing a TT - I may have to borrow it for the future if you don't mind.
I'm so with you on the fake nails...part of me wants them but when I get them, I wonder why I bother - and egads when I have to remove them I curse like a sailor.
I agree with most of your list and I loved it!
This is a great list, I loved it. I'm wanting a lot of the things you said. A porch or a patio would really be nice!
Some of the classics *are* funny, you've just got to pick the right ones. Have you ever read any of Jane Austen's novels?
I refuse to age gracefully. WHy bother? If you can't be so crazy you force your kids into therapy, you're not doing your job right.
Also, my nails are a mess. Unless I use Hard as Nails. It's a miracle for me.
A great first TT!
"RAGE, Rage against the dying of the light. Live it until it isn't anymore!" This reminds me of Live as if you would die tomorrow. Learn as if you will live forever. Gandhi.
I once worked with a lady who always matched her shoes and bag and was envious though even if I had the means, I'm not much of a fashionista. She always looked so well put together.
Happy TT!
Be well and enjoy the day.

I love it, love it, love it! Oh my gosh! Great list! You made me laugh out loud. Thanks!
I think just about every one of those I could nod my head in agreement with in some way. I don't work at home, but I have dial up at home since I live in the middle of nowhere. Hate it! Always will! I'm thinking about going with the "wireless via cel phone tower" internet thing that's new. Expensive, though.
Anyway, thanks for the laugh!

http://kristikay.blogspot.com/2007/07/13-ideas-ive-had-for-getting-rid-of.html
It's some ideas I thought up for getting rid of the annoying sales callers I get at work. Every day. When I'm busy. From the same companies. While I am trying to meet a deadline. On a Monday morning.
You get the idea.
Thanks for this post and have a great rest-of-the-week!
Thank you all for commenting. I'll try Jane Austen first! I can't wait to read your posts!
