Are Men Retarded?

I ask this question because recently we had a party where there were an assortment of both marrieds and singles... and the men seem to have something wrong with them. Of course this IS from a woman's point of view, but seriously... there is really something wrong here.

First we had a recap of the evening... how many single guys were here? Well, there was Red (43), Hottie(44), Funny Guy(25), Too Much(45), and Denial(50?). Oh wait. Too Much isn't single, but he was ACTING single - Too Much is dealing with serious marriage problems since his wife accumulated over $50,000 in debt without telling him, forcing them to file for bankruptcy... Too Much's wife needs to make an effort to participate in some recreation that her husband actually enjoys, or she's going to lose him.

Single Women - Country Girl (52), Pretty but Wary(53), Down to Earth(40), and Rebound girl(25).

There were other singles, but they were either busy with family socializing, gay, or just not looking around at all.

Country Girl, Down To Earth and Pretty But Wary all thought Red was attractive... however, Red was looking at Rebound Girl. Red appears to like rejection and figures if there is no chemistry - well... enough phone calls with change that. Eventually he has many conversations with answering machines. Red is unaware of why women are so mean. Red didn't find any of the other ladies interesting enough to get to know, though all could be classified as either average to pretty. Instead he reused a lame flirty move towards Rebound girl about 10 times.

Rebound Girl spent much of the evening chatting and laughing with Funny Guy. They hit it off, though Funny Guy wasn't exactly Rebound Girl's "type". She likes them muscle bound and Funny Guy is VERY slim. Sadly, Rebound Girl is considering a move to another city so they haven't really pursued anything past the party.

Hottie has my attention, but then again - he was my high school boyfriend. My daughter thought he was the hottest guy at the party - to which I responded - stay away, he's not calling ME mom at family get togethers. Hottie wasn't really looking at anyone at the party to my knowledge - unless he was looking at Rebound Girl (who IS my daughter and he'd get smacked for that one).

Too Much likes Country Girl, but he needs to make a decision of what the hell he's doing in his marriage before he starts causing heart ache all over this little piece of God's green earth.

Denial REALLY likes Country girl, but he has a syndrome close to what Red has... and figures if he just keeps trying to paw her that she will eventually love him. Denial isn't very nice or compassionate. This is why Country Girl just "can't go there".

All the ladies looked past initial appearance to see what the guys were like. The men made snap decisions and as a result some really fantastic people stood on opposite sides of the room from one another and wondered if there were really any good ones still out there.

Country girl said... when they get to be close to my age, they are either married, not looking for anything, damaged, or looking at Rebound Girl.

I took this information and turned to my husband and said, "If you're going to leave me, do it now. If you do this to me in my 50's, I'll kill you, because it seeems you all get retarded."

Older men always seemed more interesting, developed, wise, and experienced in the world. It seems men aren't looking for that... they are looking for a fresh face and overlooking so many fantastic women who enjoy companionship and are giving because they know how a relationship works... and those young fresh faces - well not to say they aren't wonderful people... but exactly how much of a 43 year old man's single dad to a teenager life is relevant to a 25 y.o. who wants to explore the world and has no strings past a small little peekapoo? What insight does she have into teenage rebellion, except that she was recently there herself?
